Receipt Notice Delays
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and filing increases, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is currently experiencing a four to six week delay in issuing receipt notices for applications and petitions filed at a USCIS lockbox facility. The delay period varies according to the lockbox facility and application/petition filed, with more significant delays for individuals filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status and certain F-1 students filing Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization. These delays will not affect the receipt date, which will continue to be determined by the actual date of receipt at the designated filing location.
Field Office Appointments
USCIS offices affected by the recent COVID-19 spike may be temporarily closed or have changed hours and services. Additionally, affected offices may need to reschedule interview and naturalization ceremony appointments. Applicants and petitioners whose appointments will need to be rescheduled will be contacted by USCIS accordingly with notices indicating their new appointment date and time. Please continue to monitor the USCIS website to ensure your local office is open and performing your needed services, and contact your immigration counsel if you require emergency document services.
